The story
Built on the work — not the marketing.
We started General West Contractors in 2016 with one goal: stop being the contractor who shows up late, leaves dust everywhere, and ghosts the client when something goes wrong. Most homeowners have been burned by at least one renovation horror story. We built the company specifically to be the opposite of that.
Ten years in, we’re still doing it the same way. Same core crew. Same licensed sub-trades on plumbing, electrical, and gas. Same insistence on pulling permits even when a client tries to talk us out of it (the “saving money” that wrecks a future sale).
We don’t outsource sales to a guy who’s never held a hammer. The same person who quotes the project sees it through to final walkthrough. That’s why every quote feels honest — there’s no incentive to underprice the scope and pad it back with change orders.

We carry $5M liability and full WSIB coverage. Every project includes copies of certificates of insurance — no homeowner ever has to wonder if a worker is covered.
We do the work — not subs we've never met
Our own carpentry, drywall, and tile crew. Plumbing, electrical, and gas are licensed sub-trades we've worked with for years — not lowest-bidder lottery. The same people are on your project from week 1 to walkthrough.
Permits + inspections handled in-house
We file the drawings, pull the permits, and book the inspections. You don't deal with city hall, ESA, or TSSA. Permit fees are included in our quoted price — never a surprise line item.
Written change orders, always
Anything outside the original scope gets documented — cost, timeline impact, your signature — before we proceed. No invoice surprises at the end of a project.
